“Carville: Defending Clinton Like Being in Mob
Speaking to a gathering in Monterey, Calif., Monday night, Democratic Party spinmeister James Carville likened his years of battling on behalf of Bill Clinton to working for organized crime.
“I feel sometimes defending President Clinton is like being in the Mafia – you just can’t get out,” Carville told the crowd, as his two co-panelists, former White House chief of staff Leon Panetta and Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly, erupted in laughter.
“You know, I’m like Michael Corleone. How do I get out of this business?” Carville then crowed.
At that point, O’Reilly interrupted to note the watershed moment.
“Really, this has been worth it. Just to hear James Carville admit he’s been involved with organized crime,” O’Reilly said. “Take me, Lord. I’m ready to go.”
The talk host ran the video excerpt on his popular “O’Reilly Factor” show Tuesday night and announced he’d show more tape of his meeting with Carville during Wednesday’s broadcast.”
